Jessica came home from Top Gun Camp so tired at this age. Though she loved to go, the gym back then was not air conditioned, and those of you who were there during those years can relate. I would always have dinner waiting on them when they came home knowing she would want to eat, shower and nap after dinner.
One day after Camp her Dad told her he would give her a dollar if she dribbled her basketball to the mail boxes and back without stopping. This was far especially for her age. She loved challenges so she was all for it. Well, she dribbled all the way up and about two houses from our house she lost it. I was excited she got that far. But Tim told her he wouldn't give her the dollar because she didn't make it to the house, of course I stepped in and told Jess I would give her a dollar. Her Dad said go ahead give her your dollar but she's not getting mine until she dribbles to the mail boxes and back. Now me, I would have taken the money and ran. Not Jess, she started dribbling to the mail boxes again and I thought to myself my poor baby but it was her decision to do it again. So off she went. Tim of course was watching her I couldn't bare to watch her get so close to the house again and not make it. Well, she made it. Thank goodness, and got her dollar from her Dad. I wanted to share this story with you because it's one of many challenges Jessica took on in her life. The love she had for her Father and her teammate's was powerful. Jessica is proud of her Father being there for her teammate's this year and for her teammates being there for her Father. Never thought we would survive through basketball season this year, but we did. Thanks to all our family and friends that got us through. Thank you Jess for these precious memories.
I Love and Miss You So, Mama
